A Briefly Brief Hiatus

Guess what, shit happens. It’s what you do after that counts.

Approximately mid December the perfect storm hit and my life fell apart. I’m sure, many of you noticed that I disappeared about February. For that, I sincerely apologize.

What Gives?

A very serious relationship of 6 years ended rather abruptly, and I was, as a consequence, forced to move from Canada back to the United States. I was lucky enough to find a full time job with an established company – you might have heard the name Magic Hat Brewing Co. dropped around the Burlington Vermont area once or twice. We’re pretty big, people know us. I was offered a position as a traffic manager, which has nothing to do with cars and trucks, but is more along the lines of creative project management. It’s incredible. I’m extremely grateful to have found a new line of work I engage with and love.

Amidst the hurricane of change I found myself alone, divorcing, with a 7 month old puppy, working 40 hours a week at a full time job, 20 hours a week on my business in a beautiful 3 BR home with a new car and a group of new friends. 2.5 months in I was diagnosed with epstein-barr and on multiple occasions, wound up in my Doctor’s office with debilitating fatigue, swollen liver and swollen spleen. As I begrudgingly gave in to the exhaustion, numerous lengthy conversations cropped up about what was important and unimportant as my health was called onto the stand.

Miss Fix-It.

Being forced down into primitive functioning (this coming from one of the biggest sufferers of FOMO you’ll ever meet) I did my best to look at this as an opportunity to re-evaluate my business purpose, interests and life goals. I’m a completely different person than I was 6 months ago. Parts of me have solidified, others have gone, and my little design business has changed, too. Here are the highlights.

A common theme in my favorite projects were two things: Designing logos and bright colors. So, as un-profound as it seems, I’ve stripped away all of the other services that I’ve offered in the past, from Facebook ad design, PDF design and copywriting to offer a simpler selection of splendid love-dipped goodies.

Logo design. Brand design. Brand strategy.

That’s it.
